On September 24th, 2022, the Ku Klux Klan held a rally in Tazewell, TN, my father's hometown and the namesake of this company. I founded Tazewell Clothes as a celebration of Southern culture and the region's long history of clothing and textile production. Of course, the South also has a dark history of reprehensible violence and oppression levied upon Black people, and this rally unfortunately confirms overt racism is still alive and well.
I cannot change the world with a tiny clothing company, but I also cannot remain silent when faced with obvious evil that quite literally hits so close to home. So, I commissioned a limited edition graphic T-shirt, made in Tazewell and printed in Nashville, with a very clear message about what Southern values we should all support. All profits from the sale of the shirts are immediately donated to the Tennessee chapter of the ACLU.
